How to Reach Jagannath Temple, Kanathur, Chennai.

Jagannath temple at Kanathur, Chennai is located off the East Coast Road; that route is also for Pondicheri. Regular services are there from Broadway, Madras Transport Corporation (MTC) depot; those play through this route. Most buses to Kovalam pass through this route.

If you are in Parrys area, Secretariat area or Port Trust area; you can catch buses en-route; no need to go to the bus stand. If, from Central Station area, may go to Park station that is in the opposite side of road through the nearby sub-way, from there to Fort station, only next station to Park in Beach station side. Crossing the fly over make you reach the MTC bus stand.

Buses of route 19 series pass through Kanathur. Express buses charge Rs.19-00, whereas Volvo AC buses charge Rs.50-00. Volvo AC buses are very comfortable and cheaper than other cities like Bengaluru; but are a few.

From Kanathur bus stop about 1/2 kilometre is the Temple of Lord Jagannath. Darsan hours are from 6.30 AM to 12.30 PM and again from 3.30 PM to 7.30 PM. That is a small place but very peaceful. Odia Brahmins are there for the rituals of deities. To offer prayer, you have to bring every thing from Kanathur or carry from your place.  The temple is built with all stones. The deities are like the Jagannath Temple at Puri.

Except on some special occasions no Prasad is available for the visitors. However, one odia manages Anand Bazar, something like a restaurant, privately.
