Scientist Gets Lasker Foundation Prize For Malaria Drug

Tu Youyou of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in Beijing, won the clinical research award for discovering the malaria drug artemisinin.

Artemisinin has its root from the extract of sweet wormwood taking a clue from ancient Chinese texts and folk remedies for malaria.

Artemisinin has saved millions of lives since its discovery.
